DAY 9 | This Has to Stay Central
Romans 10:13
One of my favorite things about the body of Christ is that there’s so many different expressions inside the body.
For example, worship styles vary from church to church. I remember when I was in bible college, one of the kids who lived a few doors down from me shared how his favorite kind of worship is hymns. He said he doesn’t really like contemporary worship and would much rather listen to choirs singing hymns. That would bore other people to death, but it’s where he encountered God. Some churches are very passionate about local outreach. Others are very passionate about international missions. But the one thing that should be central to every single church, no matter the denomination, no matter the region and no matter the language - is salvations. I’ve found that in our current climate, everyone is good at giving their perspective on what Jesus’s main point of emphasis was in His ministry and that’s where we subsequently put our emphasis. But Jesus makes it abundantly clear that He came to seek and save the lost. His primary purpose was to save those who were lost and so our primary prayer should be seeing the same in our lifetime.
Every day you interact with a coworker, a family member, a friend or a stranger that doesn’t know the incredible love of Christ and what’s more, you have the Good News that they need. Part of how we effectively love the city like we talked about in yesterday’s reading is by praying for the saving power of Jesus to take place in our city. But more than just our city, in our spheres - the places we hold influences, the places we frequent. Every day you pass by someone Jesus died for and desires to have a relationship with. So today, pray, by name, for those you know who don’t know Jesus to come to a real revelation of His truth and grace.
