DAY 13 | This Isn’t About More Money
2 Corinthians 9:11
Money has a unique way of revealing what we trust.
Not because money is evil or spiritual in itself, but because it touches nearly every part of our lives. Our security. Our future. Our family. Our sense of control. That’s why Scripture speaks about it so directly. Jesus was never ignorant of the power of money nor the importance of money. But in Jesus’ addressing money’s importance, He never pretends like it doesn’t matter. Pauls tell the church in Corinth that God enriches us for a purpose.
Not simply so we can live comfortably, but so we can be generous in every way. In other words, provision is never meant to stop with us. God supplies so that we can share. He blesses so that we can bless. He provides so that we can participate in His work in the world. A pastor once said that generosity is supposed to function like a river, not a pool.Generosity is not just about surplus.
It’s about trust. It’s saying, God, You are my source. I will not cling tightly to what You’ve placed in my hands because I believe You can refill them. And every time we live open-handed, we are reminded that we are stewards, not owners. This kind of living breaks fear. It loosens greed. It quiets anxiety about tomorrow. And it turns ordinary resources into impact that declares Jesus is King. The local church is meant to meet the local needs and when this happens, the gospel moves forward, the Church is strengthened, and our hearts are shaped in the process. So today we pray for provision, yes. But also for generous hearts.
That God would meet real needs in our lives. That He would grow our trust in Him as our provider. And that we would respond to His provision with obedience, joy, and open hands.
