DAY 3 | Clarity of vision
Habakkuk 2:2
Without fully dating myself,
I will share that I grew up before GoogleMaps, AppleMaps (if you’re one of those people) and Waze. I remember when my mom first got a Garmin GPS for Christmas and my mind was utterly blown at the fact that this little machine knew exactly where we were and exactly how to get to wherever we were going. I used to have to open a map the size of a placemat in the backseat of my mom’s Honda Civic and read to her which route we were supposed to merge onto in order to get to the right place. Archaic. But now, we have automated directions that allow us to set where it is we’re heading and then map out our journey. If you’re like me, you input the directions and then you look up what’s on your route. Where am I going to be able to get coffee? Where am I going to be able to get food? Depending on your level of comfort with the gas tank, you’ll look to see the nearest gas station (or maybe you just live on the edge and ride a while with the light on). All of these stops are easy to make because you know you’re making them while heading in the right direction. When the vision of our lives in Christ is clear, our decisions start to make sense.
We know where we’re headed. And because the destination is settled, we don’t panic over every turn or stop along the way. We can pause, refuel, and even take the scenic route at times, because we’re confident we’re still moving in the right direction. But when vision is unclear, everything feels urgent and chaotic. Every option feels equal. Every desire pulls with the same weight and we eventually drift because we’ve lost sight of where we’re going.Clear vision doesn’t answer every question,
but it gives shape to the journey in which we’ve been called. It reminds us that the Christian life isn’t random or reactive. God has a direction for us, even when the details are still unfolding. So today, let this be our prayer: that God would clarify the vision of our lives in Him. That He would remind us where we’re headed and what we’re building. And that as we fast and pray, He would re-align our hearts to His direction, so every step we take moves us closer to where He’s calling us.Pray for shared clarity, that we would see what God is building and move in the same direction together.
